|The PCA Environmental, Health and Safety Committee has been hard at work over the past year. This newsletter will highlight some of the recent accomplishments, resources and programs that are offered within the Committee. We are thankful for the valuable input and expertise of our Committee Members. We hope that you will find the information relevant and valuable, as well.|
2013 Safety and Health Excellence Awards Program
The purpose of the PCA awards program is to recognize and promote excellence in safety and health among member companies.The program is designed to recognize both individual and facility efforts demonstrated to prevent accidents and illnesses through hazard identification and control.
All PCA member companies qualify to apply for Facility Safety and Health Excellence Awards.All employees of PCA member companies qualify to be nominated for Safety and Health Leadership or Employee Excellence Awards.Contracted employees or consultants do not qualify for individual awards.Contracted services contributing to facility efforts may be considered for Facility Safety and Health Excellence Awards.
Description of Award Categories:
- Facility Safety and Heath Excellence Award – This award recognizes a plant or facility that demonstrates safety and health excellence and has implemented new accident prevention programs that identify and control workplace hazards.
- Leadership Excellence Award – This is an individual award intended to recognize a corporate CEO or facility manager (a leader) that demonstrates excellence in leadership skills in order to advance safety and health throughout their organization(s).Since this is an individual award the process involves nomination by peers within the PCA member companies or employees within their organization.
- Employee Excellence Award – This is an individual award intended to recognize an employee that demonstrates excellence in order to advance safety and health throughout their plant organization.Since this is an individual award the process involves nomination by peers within the PCA member companies or employees within their organization.

A Resource Library is now available on our website. The are a number of useful documents available to PCA Members, including Best Safety Practices, articles from Member Company's and more.

Injury & Lost Time Reporting
We are now collecting Safety data on the number of injuries and lost work time for companies in the Pine Chemicals Industry. The online form takes 2 minutes to complete and captures data by quarter for each Company. Please ensure that your data is entered by completing the form nowor by forwarding this email to the person who can complete it on behalf of your company.
