UPM start test runs at new tall-oil-based biodiesel facility in Lappeenranta, Finland

BRUSSELS, Aug. 11, 2014 (RISI) - UPM completed the construction of a new biorefinery, making biofuels from crude tall oil, at its Kaukas mill in Lappeenranta, southeastern Finland, in July.

"We are currently going through the testing and the commissioning process, which in this kind of refinery typically takes some months. We expect to start commercial production of renewable wood-based diesel in the refinery during autumn," UPM president and CEO Jussi Pesonen said during a conference call with analysts on the firm's 2Q financial results.
