BDC Webinar: Via Separations – Advanced Membrane Technology

Industry News,

In its ongoing webinar series, BDC has now scheduled its 9th webinar for 2021 focused on the commercial readiness of membrane concentration of weak black liquor, entitled, “Via Separations – Advanced Membrane Technology”, with presentations by the Co-Founders of Via Separations, Dr. Brent Keller, CTO, and Dr. Shreya Dave, CEO.

Thursday, June 3 at 11:00 AM EST

Via Separations, an MIT spinout company, is focused on developing process intensification systems through their innovative membrane platform in order to transition from energy intensive thermal separations into mechanical separations.  The technology utilizes advanced membranes which are able to tolerate elevated temperatures and harsh operating environments that may exist in many industries, including the pulp and paper sector.  Dr. Keller and Dr. Dave will share results of their recent successful pilot trial with a major player in pulp production for black liquor concentration.  This pilot represents the first successful commercial implementation of a membrane filtration system in the pulp and paper industry for addressing production bottlenecks and reducing cost basis of pulp production.  In addition to pilot results, Via Separations will also share economic validation and opportunities for global mills.

This webinar from Via Separations can likely provide value to pulp mill operations.  We encourage members to let your operations managers know about the webinar and ask them to attend.

Please join BDC for this upcoming webinar next week on Thursday, June 3 at 11:00 AM EST.
