Chemicals Association is a global association of companies engaged in producing
and processing chemicals derived from Pine Trees. The pine chemicals industry is one of the
oldest segments of the global chemical Industry and use of these products can
be traced to early civilization. In the United States alone the industry today
directly contributes approximately $2 billion to the US economy and over 11
billion in downstream economic output.
About 1,900 workers are employed in the USA alone with a payroll of
$93million.
Pine
chemicals are key components in adhesives, paper making, printing ink, paints,
coatings, road markings, oilfield production chemicals, synthetic rubber
production, vitamin intermediates, flavors and fragrances and many other applications.
The products are from a clearly renewable and sustainable resource and are
environmentally friendly.
The Pine
Chemicals Association is a global advocate for the pine chemicals industry and
is active in responding to legislation or regulations that could hurt the
industry. The Association maintains the
ASTM and ISO testing standards vital to world commerce, provides education on
industry processes and safety, sponsors conferences and provides global forums
to promote gum rosin and turpentine production and forestry practices.
