Michel Baumassy has been in the Pine Chemical  business since 1977, upon graduating as a Chemical  Engineer. During his career he held several positions: DRT: Sales manager Resin and Tall oil derivatives, Arizona  Chemical: Sales office manager, Sales manager Ink resins and CEO of resin plant. He joined Forchem’s sales team in 2002 , when the  company was created in Finland. He has recently retired from Forchem and has begun a new adventure as President of Fonterines Consulting. Michel resides in Nice, France. He is a private pilot and enjoys mountain flying.

Leonardo Siqueira is editor of pine chemicals at Argus  Media, a leading provider of energy and commodity price benchmarks. He brings transparency and trusted market  intelligence to complex global commodity and pine chemicals markets. With 11+ years delivering executive engagement across global commodities, Siqueira has a track record translating complex sectors into intelligence that supports commercial strategy, market positioning, and decision-making. With a specialization degree in Science Journalism from the Campinas State University (Unicamp) in Brazil, and a master’s degree in Strategic  Communications from the University of Lisbon, Leonardo has presented at various global  adhesives, sealants and pine chemicals conferences in the US, the UK, Spain, and Brazil.

Bernd Bungert studied chemical engineering at the  University of Dortmund, the University of California at Berkeley and at Technical University of Berlin. From 1998 to 2008 he worked in chemical industry at Hoechst AG in Frankfurt in  process development, in global engineering and as a plant  manager. He joined the faculty of the Berlin University of Applied  Science and Technology, Berlin in 2008. There he is working on energy and resource efficiency. He is also serving as a  consultant in the process industries. A focus has been in the wood-panel industry. For over 10 years he has been working as process-engineering manager for Fiberboard GmbH in Baruth, Germany.

Claudio Mereu is a partner with over 26 years' worth of  experience in EU regulatory law with an emphasis on  chemicals, pesticides and biocides, as well as other regulated consumer, professional and industrial goods. His practice focuses on EU regulatory law with an emphasis on chemicals (REACH/CLP), pesticides and biocides, as well as other related regulated sectors (cosmetics, medical  devices, f-Gas, etc.). His expertise covers all aspects of product regulations and restrictions under, including notification, registration,  exemptions/derogations, mutual recognition, classification & labelling, marketing and use restrictions, parallel imports,  environmental liability, product recalls and scientific data  compensation negotiations, among others. Claudio has been involved in large chemical defense  projects, such as chromium trioxide and PFAS under the REACH Regulation. His activities can be divided into three main streams: advisory, advocacy and litigation, at both EU and national levels. This includes assisting clients in navigating the EU regulatory landscape, policies and compliance requirements across various sectors, as well as litigation at EU and  national levels against administrative decisions from EU Institutions/agencies and local  authorities. Claudio also advises chemical companies on strategic and business law matters relating to their commercial agreements, as well as regulatory due diligence in relation to the acquisitions and divestments of product portfolios in the EU.

Natalie Konings is a regulatory lawyer who helps clients navigate the complex world of EU chemicals law. She works alongside businesses to turn regulatory challenges into  competitive advantages, particularly in the fast-evolving  areas of REACH, plant protection and biocides. She specializes in EU regulatory law with a focus on  chemicals regulation, an area where she has been helping clients succeed for the last 15 years. Her practice focuses on REACH, plant protection and biocides, guiding companies through the entire lifecycle, from initial registrations to  complex enforcement procedures. She also manages task forces and joint registrations, for which she advises on legal, contractual and EU sanction schemes. Natalie also help clients across the health sector navigate the Intersection with chemicals. In this respect, she advises clients on the impact that chemicals have on their products, e.g. cosmetics, medical devices and pharmaceuticals and give advice on  substances restricted under REACH, CLP, POPs, RoHS and PPWR. She is particularly skilled at  identifying exemptions and derogations that can give clients a competitive edge whilst  maintaining full compliance.

Ruud van der Eerden is a senior business leader and renowned  resin expert with over 35 years of global experience in the chemical industry. Throughout his career at Hercules, Eastman Chemical Co., and Synthomer Plc, he has held diverse leadership roles spanning strategy, sales, marketing, technology, and  regulatory affairs. Notably, Ruud served a 10-year tenure as  President of HARRPA (the CEFIC sector group for Hydrocarbon & Rosin Resins), leading the industry during critical regulatory  challenges such as MOSH/MOAH and the Rosin ARN. As the founder of Resins-Insights-Consultancy, Ruud provides  specialized market, feedstock, and regulatory insights to the  adhesives and resins community, helping organizations navigate industry challenges and geopolitical tensions. In early 2026, he joined the PCA as a Consultant for the PRS Committee. He holds a B.S. in Chemical  Engineering and serves as an Associate Director at The ChemQuest Group.

Jan Maarten Teuben, PhD, MBA  has joined Penman  Consulting as Head of Product Stewardship and Strategic  Initiatives. He brings over 25 years of leadership experience at Shell, where he served as Global Product Stewardship Manager for Chemicals and Fuels. Jan’s career spans Chemicals, Refining, Catalysts, Trading, Upstream, Integrated Gas, and R&D. Committed to  ensuring chemicals are used safely and sustainably, Jan  combines strong technical foundations with business acumen. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from Leiden University and an Executive MBA from ESSEC Business School, Paris.

Florine Gaudin joined DRT in 2015 and is currently Senior  Buyer within the Strategic Raw Materials Procurement team.  Florine is responsible for the sourcing of Crude Sulfate Turpentine (CST) and Crude Tall Oil (CTO) across Europe. In addition to procurement responsibilities, Florine leads the "Out of the Box" worldwide innovation project, aimed at identifying and developing new sustainable sources of terpene-based raw  materials to support the future growth of the pine chemicals  industry. Florine graduated from Kedge Business School with a master's degree in international Purchasing and Innovation.

Dr. Emmanuel Cazeils has built his career at the intersection of chemistry, innovation, sourcing, and sustainability. After earning a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Bordeaux and completing a postdoctoral fellowship in New Zealand focused on lignin valorization, he joined DRT in 2009, where he spent nine years in R&D leading  projects related to rosin and terpene resin technologies. He later moved into procurement, leading an international technical team and playing a pioneering role in the identification and industrial development of new sources of turpentine, helping to diversify and strengthen the industry's supply base. This work has made him a recognized contributor to the development of alternative turpentine sourcing routes, which will be highlighted during this presentation. Today, he is the Senior Sourcing Manager for the Perfume & Beauty R&D division of dsm-firmenich and leads a key sustainability initiative aimed at accelerating the transition toward lower-carbon raw materials and reducing the company's environmental footprint.

Erin Carter is Senior Manager of Certification Programs at Georgia-Pacific, where she leads forest certification,  responsible fiber sourcing, supplier due diligence, and  sustainability assurance initiatives across the company's  businesses. With more than 11 years at Georgia-Pacific, she works at the intersection of forestry, supply chains,  certification systems, and emerging regulatory requirements, helping customers and stakeholders navigate topics such as  traceability, sustainable sourcing, FSC, SFI, PEFC, ISCC, and EUDR compliance. Erin is a recognized industry voice  on forest certification and responsible sourcing and regularly  engages with customers, certification bodies, standards  organizations, and industry associations to advance practical,  risk-based approaches to forest stewardship.

Rodrigo de Oliveira is a chemical engineer with over 17 years of  experience in the pulp and paper industry at Klabin S.A. He has  consistently focused on chemical recovery and utilities, biorefining, and biomaterials—specializing in biofuels and energy optimization. Since 2015, he has been active in the pine chemicals sector, driving  innovation and approving applications for crude tall oil and turpentine molecules with the goal of replacing fossil-based ingredients with  plant-based alternatives in products and formulations, thereby  enhancing their sustainability.

Katja Salmenkivi is Director of Biochemicals at Metsä Fibre, where she leads global sales and business development. With more than 25 years of experience, she has held a variety of leadership and commercial roles across the pulp, paper, and chemicals industries.

Alessandro Visconti is an experienced  industry leader, consultant, and editor with over 30 years of  International expertise in trading, marketing, and strategic  development – most notably in the global pine chemicals sector.     Following an early career in the paper, specialty and luxury  packaging industries, Alessandro transitioned into leadership roles within medical technology startups before returning to his true passion: the dynamic world of raw material trading. In 2008, he assumed  responsibility for the global pine chemical division at Petrofer AG,  developing sourcing and trading platforms across Latin America,  Europe, and Asia. Today, Alessandro serves as Editor-in-Chief of Pine Chemicals Review, the industry's leading publication, where he drives thought leadership, promotes informed dialogue, and facilitates global market insight across the value chain. He also advises companies on sourcing  strategies, market entry, and operational optimization in the rosin and turpentine sector. With a balanced view, international experience, and a strong grasp of market dynamics,  Alessandro is often invited to share insights at pine chemicals events – something he genuinely enjoys as part of a broader industry dialogue. He divides his time between Basel, Switzerland and Belo Horizonte, Brazil, leveraging his global network and bicultural perspective to bridge market intelligence with on-the-ground  execution.

Dr. Paul Stockmann is Group Manager for Bio-based Polymers and Additives at the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and  Biotechnology IGB in Straubing, Germany. Paul completed his doctoral research at the Technical University of Munich, where his work focused on the development of bio-based  polyamides from terpenes. He joined Fraunhofer IGB as a researcher in 2017 and currently leads research focused on bio-based polymers and additives. His work explores the use of renewable raw materials as building blocks for sustainable chemical products and materials, with particular expertise in monoterpenes, organic synthesis and bio-based polymers. His research includes the development of terpene-derived polyamides and other renewable alternatives to conventional petroleum-based materials.

Ana Luísa Costa is part of a family with nearly 80 years of experience in Portugal’s natural resin sector and has been working  in the industry since 2023. As a Business Manager at Costa & Irmãos and NARES, her first major responsibility was leading the implementation of the company’s ERP system, which gave her a broad understanding of the business and how its different areas and processes are connected. In September 2024, following the retirement of the team member responsible for NARES customer sales and logistics, she took over these responsibilities, later hiring and managing a dedicated team member for the role. Since 2024, she has also been responsible for the physical and financial management of projects supported by public funding. In January 2026, Ana Luísa became Vice-President of RESIPINUS, the Portuguese association representing resin distillers and resin tappers. In May 2026, she became Managing Director of Resinova Costa, a company created to increase resin imports as part of the family business's recovery strategy following Storm Kristin.

Luis Rochartre, Forest Engineer and postgraduate in  Sustainability at Stanford and Harvard, he has a 30-year career  dedicated to sustainability, forestry, consulting, executive search and business management. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Higher Institute of Economics and Management, an Industry Fellow at  Católica do Porto and a trainer in Wood Construction, at the Order  of Architects. Throughout his career, he has led complex change and  transformation programs in different sectors of activity, contributed  to the strengthening of the financial performance of several  organizations, promoted the development of multicultural and  multidisciplinary teams and participated in governance and  supervision processes as a member of boards of directors and strategic consultant.
