RUBBER COMPOSITION AND PNEUMATIC TIRE
European Patent EP3910018 B1 · Filed: 05/07/2021 · Published: 02/22/2023

Assignee:

GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER (Akron, OH 44316, US)

Inventors:

ISITMAN NIHAT ALI (US)
WASSEN MARINE SOPHIE FRANCOISE (LU)
HINTERLONG RONDA JANE (US)

A vulcanizable rubber composition for use in a tread of a pneumatic tire is disclosed. The rubber composition comprises, based on 100 parts by weight of elastomer up to 100 phr of a solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber; from 5 to 50 phr of a fatty acid monoester…………..

The whole key to this invention appears to be the fatty acid monoester.  Note that even coumarone indene resins are claimed specifically.  Terpene resins are lumped together as hydrocarbons.

AGROCHEMICAL-CONTAINING PRESSURE-SENSITIVE ADHESIVE TAPE
European Patent Application EP4133940 A1 · Filed: 04/02/2021 · Published: 02/15/2023

Assignee:

NICHIBAN KK (Bunkyo-ku Tokyo 112-8663, JP)
WAKAYAMA KENJI (Funabashi-shi, Chiba 274-0063, JP)

YOSHIZUMI KAZUHIKO (JP)
KONO KAZUHIRO (JP)
DOI TAKAHIRO (JP)
TAKAICHI CHIHIRO (JP)
WAKAYAMA KENJI (JP)

This patent relates to using a pressure sensitive adhesive to adhere an agricultural chemical to a plant for uptake.   However, this is already being done with the use of terpene dimer oils, making it more effective and less expensive.

Biorenewable hydrocarbon compositions and their uses
United States Patent 11572473 B2 · Filed: 12/21/2020 · Published: 02/07/2023

Assignee:

Kraton Polymers LLC (Houston, TX, US)

Inventors:

Van Herrikhuyzen, Jeroen (Almere, NL)
Schaapman, Mark (Almere, NL)
Eduard, Pieter (Almere, NL)

Disclosed are compositions comprising dimeric decarboxylated rosins (DDCRs), methods for making them, and applications thereof. DDCR of purity from 50-100 wt. % is obtained by decarboxylating a dimeric rosin acid or by dimerizing a decarboxylated rosin, in the presence of a catalyst, ……………….

This is a new type of material from rosin that was dormant for a long time, with a lot of potential.

REINFORCED RUBBER CONTAINING SILYLATED TRIGYLCERIDE OIL
European Patent EP3705518 B1 · Filed: 03/03/2020 · Published: 02/22/2023

Assignee:

GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER (Akron, OH 44316, US)

Inventors:

KULIG JOSEPH JOHN (US)
CANTWELL KELSEY ELIZABETH (US)
PAPAKONSTANTOPOULOS GEORGE JIM (US)

The key here is the ability of silylated vegetable oils to help facilitate the dispersion of silica in tire compositions.  This patent is an excellent discussion and review of the history of the development of silylation chemistry including mixing designs.  It is also a reflection on the value Goodyear places on R&D.  It is also a reminder to resin producers that chemists have so many variables to study that one truly good technology can  come along and replace some other company’s prime technology.

MINERAL-FREE CHEWING GUM BASES AND CHEWING GUM COMPOSITIONS
